Features

Valspar Duramax Paint is an Ultra Premium exterior paint representing the latest in coating innovation. Infused with Advanced Crosslinking Technology ACT, this self priming finish provides triple resistance against mold, mildew and algae growth on the paint film, as well as providing maximum UV protection. The thicker finish hides minor surface defects and bridges small cracks for a flawless finish. Duramax Paint with ACT ensures a lifetime of protection-guaranteed.

Coverage

One gallon of paint covers approximately 300-400 sq ft, depending on surface porosity. Do not thin.

Where to Use

Exterior surfaces including wood siding and tri, hardboard siding, primed metal, shakes, brick, cement, cinder block, stucco, concrete, stone, asbestos shingles, aluminum and vinyl siding. Do not use on glazed brick, floors or steps.

Preparing Your Surfaces

Clean and dry surface thoroughly, removing all dirt, dust, chalk, rust, grease, wax and mildew. Clean mildew or suspected mildew from the surface by scrubbing the house before painting with a commercial mildew remover or a solution of 1 part liquid bleach to 3 parts water. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid contact with skin or eyes. Countersink nails and apply an oil metal primer to exposed nail heads. On previously painted surfaces, including painted metal siding, scrape off loose and peeling paint and sand smooth. Thoroughly remove chalk by vigorous washing, then rinse. Dull glossy surfaces with gloss remover or sandpaper. For maximum performance on bare wood, two coats of Duramax Paint is recommended. On vinyl siding, wash thoroughly and allow to dry. Then paint with a color lighter than the original siding color because painting with darker colors will cause warping or deformation from heat absorption. On masonry, brush loose sand, dust and other material from the surface. New galvanized surfaces should be allowed to age six months before painting.

Warning!

If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log onto www.epa.gov/lead.
